What is a good Boiler Rust Inhibitor

What is a Boiler Rust Inhibitor?
A Boiler Rust Inhibitor 2338D is designed to minimize boiler corrosion. Boiler Rust Inhibitor 2338 & 2338D are closed water system treatment programs designed to treat hot and chilled water systems. The product contains a combination of nitrite, borate, and silicate formulated to minimize corrosion and deposition. The product comes in a clear and pink appearance form. This product is not intended for use in steam boilers. This product is compatible with propylene glycol.

How much chemical do I have to add to my system?
1 Gallon treats roughly 175 to 250 gallons of fresh water. Below is an easy to use chart for determining the amount of Boiler Rust Inhibitor required for new systems.

What are the advantages of using this product?
This product controls corrosion, extends equipment life and improves overall equipment efficiency

What metals will this product protect?
Protects multiple metallurgies such as yellow metals, mild steels, and lower grades of stainless steel.

How should this product be feed?
Closed Loop Chemical 2338 is normally shot fed using a chemical by pass feeder or the product is fed neat directly from the shipping container into the water stream with a chemical injection quill.

What are the material of construction used to feed the product?
All feeders, piping and valves should be made of steel, polyethylene, or PVC when in contact with this product in concentrated form because of the products pH.

What boiler tests should be performed to monitor the residual?
Closed Loop Chemical 2338 is controlled by a sodium nitrite test. If you are using the pink version, monitor the water color "pink" or perform a nitrite test kit.

How do we store and handle the product?
Keep in a tightly closed container. Store indoors. Recommended storage temperature is 50 F - 105 F. Do not reuse container. Dispose of empty container in compliance with federal, state/provincial and local laws and regulations.  If you are using the pink version, the P Indicator may go bad if stored in hot temperatures. If this occurs, the product will turn brown. The product is still good, but the product P Indicator has been damaged.
