Frequently Asked Questions
I’m having trouble locating a suitable coolant/fire suppression liquid for an industrial grinding machine and non-enclosed (mister) use. Do you know of anything that is both corrosion (rust) & fire resistant? The application gets hot enough to generate substantial steam as well so it must also be safe in that regard which eliminates a lot of the metalworking fluids I am familiar with.

Lubrication isn’t necessary for this application. I’m really looking for an alternative to water that won’t generate substantial rust. It’s a circulating mist/spray process that sprays the machine walls (inside) around a grinding unit for fire suppression primarily. We are grinding steel so something that inhibits rust is needed as well. The steel will be hot enough to vaporize water instantly and as the excess coolant runs back to the tank it goes over the steel parts in their collection basket and evaporates there. It’s many small parts that will vary, but around 175-200 degrees F.
It would have to be an oil-free synthetic coolant. Chemworld Synthetic Eco is the product of choice.
