- One of the Lamotte DPD Chlorine Colorimeters that we ordered is no longer functional. It will not give a chlorine reading. When using the tester the results screen shows “nan”. Searching the internet I found that the “nan” means “ not a number” and that the item is defective. How can this be fixed?
- Fortunately, there is an easy fix. The NAN code indicates that the meter needs a factory reset.
You can perform the reset as follows:

- Scroll to Editing Menu, press ENTER button.
- Scroll to Factory Setup, press ENTER button.
- Press the UP button to change the first digit of password to 6 (six).
- Press ENTER button.Leave the second digit of password as 0 (zero).
- Press ENTER button.Press the UP button to change the third digit of password to 2 (two).
- Press ENTER button.Press ENTER button to select “Reset”.
- Enter password “602” a second time, see steps #4 through #6 above.
- Display will show “storing”, “working” and will cycle through gains settings as they are reset.
- After about 10 seconds, the gains and related settings will have reset. The meter will reboot to the main menu and is now ready to use again.
- Does the DPD chlorine colorimeter read up or past 50 ppm?
- No it does not read that high. Here is the product range:
- 0 to 4.0 ppm Chlorine (may be extended by dilution)
- 0 to 7.0 ppm Bromine (may be extended by dilution)
